Port of Rotterdam Authority (PoR) acquired the shares of PortShuttle Rotterdam B.V.
On May 2nd, the Port of Rotterdam Authority (PoR) acquired the shares of PortShuttle Rotterdam B.V.
In 2015, the Portshuttle was launched as a private initiative from De Boom Groep. Despite the strong growth the Portshuttle has experienced in recent months, the future of this rail service would have become uncertain in the short term. To ensure the continuity of service, the Port of Rotterdam Authority decided to acquire all shares of the company.
The Portshuttle is a neutral rail solution connecting all container terminals in the port of Rotterdam. During a daily run, the service calls upon RSC Rotterdam and the deep-sea container terminals on the Maasvlakte. At these terminals, containers are loaded and unloaded, allowing the exchange of containers between terminals.
We consider this step a great opportunity to further enhance the rail services of Rotterdam and improve them even more together with the market parties.
